The paved walkway of the Baywalk Mall sprang to life when it was transformed into a temporary colorful outdoor canvas at the Fourth Annual, School of Art and Design Saint Lucia [SADS] Sidewalk Chalk Art Festival on Easter Monday, March 28, 2016. The event showcased the talent of SADS students, as well as other aspiring and professional artists and designers in Saint Lucia who produced a diverse spectrum of chalk art inspired by distinct styles, backgrounds and interests. This year two of our professional artists displayed their masterpieces in 3D. Additionally, for the first time, seven secondary schools participated in the Festival where the students who represented their institution, created a piece of art as a team.
Other creative activities for this year’s festival included face painting, and portraiture drawings for children and adults alike. This year the school partnered with the Laborie Pan Project, which provided musical entertainment, through the support of Wilrock Ltd. Other partners of the event included East Caribbean Financial Holding Co Ltd [ECFH], Subway, Domino’s Pizza, KPL Logistics and Brokerage Services Inc, Blue Waters and LIME.
Our family friendly, free-to- attend Art Festival witnessed nationals and visitors alike who came out in large numbers to be a part of this year’s event and made it a success.
